Friday, April 6, 2018

UPDATE: Cold temperatures projected for Friday evening have prompted the following changes to April First Friday event sponsored by Aames Title & Closing.

There will be no street closures and no outside bands.

However, Jack Gibson and the Just Us Band will play at Moore's Bar at 8 p.m. Zion Crossroads will play at Wasser Brewing, also at 8 p.m. ZooSoul Drums will be located inside Conspire, beginning at 6 p.m.

Zeke's Bones will not be playing at the event. The band had been scheduled on the north courthouse stage.

The Black Lumber Company and North Salem State Bank will have their booths at 10 E. Washington St., on the south side of the square, thanks to building owner Eric Wolfe.

The Inn at DePauw will be stamping crawl cards at the Fluttering Duck.

Grand Prize Drawing will be located at Almost Home at 8 p.m.

The 2018 season of First Fridays will kick off on Friday, April 6 with a downtown business crawl from 5-7:30 p.m.

As usual, the Main Street Greencastle event will also feature a DJ to kick off the festivities as well as a pair of live bands.

The business crawl will run from 5-7:30 p.m. with chances to win at each of 22 businesses as well as a chance to win the grand prize drawing.

To play, participants start at any of the downtown businesses listed below and sign up to win their merchant basket. Each business will have either a green or a pink business crawl sticker card.

From there, visit as many other businesses as possible to collect their stickers. Visiting more businesses means more chances to win.

Collect all the stickers of one color (green or pink) to be eligible for the grand prize drawing.

Drawings for merchant baskets will take place at each individual business at 7:30 p.m.

All completed sticker cards should be turned in at the North Courthouse Stage by 7:45 p.m. for the grand prize drawing at 8.

Participating businesses include Almost Home, Aames Title & Closing, Bear Threads Boutique, Black Lumber Company, Burdge Boots, Castle Builders, Completely Nuts & Candy, Conspire, Crickets, Eli’s Book Store, Inn at DePauw, Kirsch Dental Office, Moore’s Bar, Myers Market, North Salem State Bank, Prime Real Estate Group, Scoops Ice Cream, Shuee’s Furniture & Mattress, Starbucks, Tap House 24, Wasser Beer and Wilson’s Photography by Lester & Judy.

To go along with the business crawl fun, Big Daddy A will be the DJ from 5-7 p.m. on the north side of the courthouse.

Afterward, a pair of bands will play — Zeke’s Bones on the north courthouse stage and Jack Gibson and the Just Us Band on South Indiana Street.

ZooSoul Drums will also be performing on South Indiana.

There will also be some pop-up booths as well as some food vendors.

Local businesses setting up pop-ups include North Salem State Bank, Black Lumber and the Inn at DePauw.
