Car Fire

An Wednesday-afternoon engine compartment fire had a burned-out car still sitting in the parking lot of the former Long John Silver’s restaurant on Indianapolis Road as of Thursday evening. At 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Greencastle Fire Department units were dispatched to reports of heavy black smoke from the engine compartment of a small passenger car. GFD arrived on scene at 2:21 p.m. and had the blaze under control as of 2:24. After extinguishing the fire, responders cleaned up fluids from the vehicle, clearing the scene at 2:59 p.m.
