Free trees available Saturday at Greencastle Farmers Market

Trees from Vallonia State Nursery will be available Saturday at the opening of Farmer's Market in downtown Greencastle.

Everyone is welcome to have 10 trees to plant. The trees available on a first-come, first-served basis are pawpaw, Ohio buckeye, white pine, red oak, black gum, black oak, black walnut, sycamore, chestnut oak, American plum and hazelnut.

The tree giveaway is sponsored by Buzzi Unicem USA, the Greencastle Sustainability Commission and the Putnam County Families in Nature.

The Farmer's Market runs from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, May 12. Trees will also be available Saturday, May 19 if there are still some available.
