DU Donation

Friday, May 11, 2018
Delta Upsilon fraternity at DePauw University had 100 percent participation among its 82 members for a recent Rent-a-DU fundraiser in which the men did yard work and other odd jobs in the community to raise funds for the Humane Society of Putnam County (HSPC). In front of the house on Seminary Street, freshman Travis Owen, who chaired the event, presents a check for $2,140 to Sandy Grimes, HSPC president. Looking on are last year’s chairman Richard Melville (striped shirt) and other house members, along with house mother Liz Davies’ dog, Savannah. Grimes said the DU donation will be used to help erect a roof over the outdoor kennel at the HSPC facility so that dogs can go out and still have shelter when it’s hot or during inclement weather. The project, for which a Putnam County Foundation grant also has been secured, is expected to begin soon. Additional donations are still being sought for the project, Grimes noted.

  • Thanks DU for the generous gift and thoughtfulness.
