City Police

A two-car accident Monday resulted in a pair of citations for one of the drivers, Greencastle City Police reported.

The mishap occurred at 10:37 a.m. at the intersection of Vine and Poplar streets as Christopher Douglas, 20, Greencastle, was southbound on Vine, driving a 1999 Buick Century.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Trout, 21, Greencastle, was westbound on Poplar, driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. Wrongly thinking the intersection was a four-way stop, Trout reportedly pulled out into the path of the Douglas car.

Douglas said he was unable to avoid a collision.

Officer Darrel Bunten estimated total damage at $5,000-$10,000.

Trout was cited for operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility and an infraction of driving with a suspended license.
