At the recent West Central Quail Forever Wildlife Food Plot Seed giveaway, three Quail Forever members were surprised when Quilts of Valor program volunteer Mary Fielding presented them each with a personalized Quilt of Valor.

Dick Keller and Billy Finney both served in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army, while Bob Fisher served in The Philippines with the U.S. Air Force.

Not only have they served their country in the U.S. Armed Services but today they are still serving with continued efforts to help provide habitat for wildlife, pollinators and songbirds in Putnam and surrounding counties.

The Quilts of Valor program is a non-profit organization whose mission is to cover all service member warriors.

The local group consists of eight members who volunteer their time, skill and money to this project.

Besides the Quail Forever members honored with quilts, the local group have sent quilts to Walter Reed Hospital and presented quilts to veterans at The Waters of Greencastle facilities and to many other veterans.

Quilts are sewn in patriotic colors, but the quilts are most remembered for the veterans they honor.
