• At 12:25 a.m. on Friday, Deputy Robert Soilleux was dispatched to the scene of an abandoned, crashed vehicle on East Pat Rady Way (U.S. 36) at the Intersection of Church Street in Bainbridge.

The deputy arrived to find a 2002 Dodge Caravan registered to Lisa A. Herbert, Coatesville. The van had heavy front-end and undercarriage damage.

Soilleux said it appeared the vehicle had been westbound when it crossed the eastbound lanes and left the south side of the road, hitting a cement culvert and a stop sign.

Both front airbags were deployed but the driver had fled the scene prior to Soilleux’s arrival.

The van was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

Coon told Deputy Anthony Brown he tried to toss a cigarette out the window and it flew back in and landed in his lap. He then took both his hands off the wheel in an attempt to pull the cigarette from his lap.

At that point, the vehicle took a sharp right turn and went through a cattle fence.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000. The vehicle was towed.
