Bette W. Bertram

Bette W. Bertram, 84, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018.

She was born Nov. 19, 1933 in Greencastle, the daughter of Louis and Hazel (Lawler) Williams.

She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School. Bette received her Bachelor's of Science degree from Indiana State University in 1959 and her Master of Science in 1961.

She was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.

Bette had retired with more than 30 years of service as a teacher and the director of guidance for Greencastle High School.

She was a member of the American Legion, AQHA, NSBA, League of Women Voters and strongly affiliated with the Democratic Party.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Bertram; parents and four sisters and two brothers.

Bette is survived by her children, Mark (wife Andi Feld) Bertram and Kimberly (husband Troy) Tuggle; grandchildren Burke Tuggle, Eli and Luke Brockett; a sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews; and her best companion, Oscar.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 8 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 7 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Greencastle Housing Authority Emergency Shelter Endowment c/o of the Putnam County Foundation, the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry or the Humane Society of Putnam County.
