Barbara Jeanette Cline, 80, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018.

She was born July 21, 1937 in Cleveland County, Ark., to Keith and Berniece (Beard) Thompson.

Barbara grew up in Arkansas, but also lived in Oregon and Topeka, Kan. It was in Topeka where she met the love of her life, Donald Cline.

After marriage, the couple moved to Greencastle and resided there until 1988, when they moved to Charlotte. The couple was married for 59 years until Donald preceded her in death last February.

Barbara worked in various accounting and bookkeeping roles her entire career. She worked for Aramark until February 2017. Barbara was most known as a devoted wife and mother.

She was also an avid reader, puzzler, trivia buff (especially anything related to World War II); enjoyed many types of crafting, including knitting and crocheting. She also participated with the family in bowling, including a trip to the National Women’s Bowling tournament in the 1980s. She also collected lighthouses and loved taking trips to the coast to see the structures.

Barbara will be remembered as always putting the needs of her family first. She is survived by brother Dan Thompson of Arkansas; daughters Tanya Tincher (Micheal Hartje) of Charlotte, Michelle Knose-Partin (Martin Partin) of Greenfield and Rhonda Crooks of Hickory, N.C.; grandchildren Ryan Tincher, Tim Cline, Kimberly Downing (Wyatt) and Samantha Crooks; and great-grandchild Xander Downing.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Ashley Nicole Tincher, three brothers and one sister.
