Civic League hoping for blue skies, return of ParkFest

Friday, June 22, 2018

After two straight weeks of rainouts, Greencastle Civic League members are hoping to hear the sounds of guitars and not thunder on Tuesday evening.

Weather permitting, ParkFest will return to Bowman Park on the DePauw University campus from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on June 26.

This week of ParkFest will feature Ron Dye and Legend Puncher.

Dye, a professor at DePauw University, is a favorite musician around town.

He enjoys playing a wide range of music, from folk blues and country to soul music.

Legend Puncher consists of Rich Martoglio on guitar and vocals, Daniel Gurnon on guitar and vocals, Jonathan Nichols-Pethik on drums and Matt Cummings on bass.

This early alternative and indie-infused cover band has been on the Greencastle music scene for the past couple years and is sure to entertain with both wild antics and wild music.

Cruising into July, organizers are hopeful they will be able to hold the July 3 ParkFest concert in the new bandshell at Robe-Ann Park, featuring Brandon Tinkler and Gus Moon, victims of one of the recent rainouts.

Keep an eye out for announcements about this development.

After working up an appetite jamming at ParkFest, residents are invited to begin their Fourth of July back at the park with the Greencastle Civic League's annual pancake breakfast in Robe-Ann Park from 8-11 a.m.

All-you-can eat pancakes, sausage patties, orange juice and coffee are available for only $5. Funds support the projects of the Greencastle Civic League and Friends of the Park.

Additional ParkFest performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
