Celebrate 4 schedule of events

Robe-Ann Park, Greencastle

The Celebrate 4 committee has announced the schedule of events for 43rd annual Independence Day celebration at Robe-Ann Park on Wednesday, July 4.

Beginning in the cool of the morning and lasting until the final fireworks well after dusk, it will be a day full of activity in Greencastle.

The schedule includes:

8 a.m. -- 27th annual Mike Rokicki Memorial 5K Run. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at Shelter No. 5. Pre-registration is $20 per person or $25 day of race.

8-11 a.m. -- Pancakes for Bandshell and Playground, Shelter No. 1, $5 for all-you-can-eat.

9 a.m. -- Pet Parade registration, bandshell, free.

9:15 a.m. -- 15th annual Youth Firecracker Fun Run, Shelter No. 5, free.

9:30-9:50 a.m. -- Zumba with Tawnie Harris, bandshell, free.

10 a.m. -- Firecracker Invitational Pickleball Tournament, pickleball courts, $20 per person.

10-11 a.m. -- Pet Parade, bandshell, free.

10:30 a.m.-noon -- Motorcycle Ride registration.

11-11:25 a.m. -- PULSE with Jamie Bottorff, bandshell, free.

11:30-11:40 a.m. -- Daughters of the American Revolution presentation, bandshell.

11:40 a.m.-noon -- Reading of the Declaration of Independence by Paul and James Champion, bandshell.

Noon -- Food vendors open.

Noon-3:30 p.m. -- Motorcycle Ride fundraiser.

Noon-5 p.m. -- Open swim, contests and games for all ages, Aquatics Center, free.

1-2 p.m. -- Two-person corn toss tournament registration, Park Department office, $20 per team.

2-4 p.m. -- Corn toss tournament.

4 p.m. -- Motorcycle Ride awards, Shelter No. 5.

5:30 p.m.-dusk -- Big Bounce Funhouse activities, tickets $1 and $5.

Time TBA -- DAR cabin tours and activities, free.

FREE ENTERTAINMENT

4:30-5 p.m. -- Legacy Riders Band.

5:15-6 p.m. -- Second Chance.

6:30-7:30 p.m. -- Rolle St. Pierre.

8-9:30 p.m. -- Jacob Bryant.

Dusk -- Annual 4th of July Fireworks Show by Sky Magic, with blanket pass donation for 2019 funding start.

  • Sure would be nice to have a softball tournament. It's a shame the teams have been pushed out of town due to lack of support from the Park Department!!
