Russellville Community Center

This summer, 25 different charitable organizations, scholarships and endowments are participating in the Putnam County Community Foundation Share the Dream program. The fundraising program offers proportionally awarded grant prizes to participants who receive at least 10 donations of $25 or more between May 1 and Aug. 31. Each of the 25 organizations will be highlighted in this series.

The Russellville Community Center’s purpose is to continue serving the Russellville community by providing a place to relax, socialize, and have a good time.

The center brings people together for multiple purposes such as parties, wedding receptions, alumni banquets, plays and more.

The Russellville Community Center Endowment was established in 2002 by Zoe McGaughey Wiatt and her son Darrell Lafe Wiatt in memory of Isaac Edward Wiatt, Zoe’s husband and Darrell’s father.

Isaac Wiatt was born Jan. 26, 1915, in Parke County and worked as a farmer until his retirement in 1971. Zoe and her son Darrell report their gratitude for living among the wonderful people of Russellville.

Russellville alumni or any major businesses in the area who want to show their gratitude for the Russellville community should consider donating to the Russellville Community Center Endowment.

There are many events happening at the Russellville Community Center this year such as the dinner theater this summer featuring 20 different acts, a buffet meal for low-incomed families, an alumni banquet and a Christmas Cantata.

Zoe and Darrell Wiatt’s wish is for the Russellville Community Center to continue serving the community for future generations.
