Dust and tar odor envelope the northeast side of the courthouse square as road crews grind up and dispose of old pavement Thursday morning. The milling and subsequent repaving is part of the city's ongoing construction work on Franklin Street.

  • By far the worst part of Franklin Street is between Northwood and Locust, where it was torn up years ago for a sewer line problem. The area near the square was in pretty good shape. Strange priorities!
