PCCF Share the Dream Spotlight: Kiwanis Club of Greencastle

Thursday, July 26, 2018

This summer, 25 different charitable organizations, scholarships and endowments are participating in the Putnam County Community Foundation Share the Dream program. The fundraising program offers proportionally awarded grant prizes to participants who receive at least 10 donations of $25 or more between May 1 and Aug. 31. Each of the 25 organizations will be highlighted in this series.

The Kiwanis Club of Greencastle supports local nonprofits that serve children and youth in the community. Kiwanians seek to impact all vulnerable children and empower the community to make a lasting difference in the lives of these children until the need no longer exists.

They accomplish this by donating to various organizations like Camp Friend, Mary Allison Children’s Trust, Putnam County Youth Development and more.

Kiwanis clubs, located in 80 nations, help their communities in countless ways. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis Club, no matter where in the world it is located.

Kiwanis of Greencastle established its endowment in 2000 to ensure it will have the ability to continue making charitable donations to local causes for years to come. Some initial ideas for donations included scholarships, grants to local charities and funding for unique Kiwanis service projects.

Donors who choose to give to this endowment likely have an interest in building a lasting fund to benefit children. They solicit local Kiwanians, both current and past.

The Kiwanis Club of Greencastle welcomes interest from community members who share their passion for improving the community by helping children.

The club meets each Thursday for a luncheon meeting at the Inn at DePauw in Greencastle.

Any funds generated through the Share the Dream program will add to the organization’s long-term ability to serve the community and its children.
