Ivy Tech Community College Greencastle celebrated 15 graduates of the school’s Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) certification program Friday afternoon, July 27 during a pinning ceremony on campus.

About 120 people attended the ceremony, conducted in the entrance hall of the Greencastle campus facility.

“Today, each of you are to be recognized for your hard work, your drive and your dedicated efforts,” Campus Vice Chancellor Greg Cook said. “Remember, you are always learning. And you can – and will – make a difference in the lives of others.”

Ivy Tech’s Practical Nursing program is an integral part of the college’s health care focus.

The Practical Nursing technical certificate prepares students to care for patients in a variety of health care settings, such as hospitals, convalescent centers, clinics, home care and physician offices. Graduates are eligible to apply to the state licensure exam (NCLEX-PN) and become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Licensed Practical Nursing is a high demand occupation with a current annual salary of $42,440, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

In addition, the Ivy Tech Greencastle campus also offers a Licensed Practical Nursing certificate to Associate of Science in Nursing Transitional Track degree program. The program application deadline for the Transitional Track to Associate’s degree is Sept. 1.
