County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 1:42 a.m. Vance Matthew Barker, 48, Brazil, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

Wednesday

• At 6:07 p.m. Amber Marie Byrd, 22, Cloverdale, was booked in for failure to appear.

• At 12:44 p.m. Sarah Jeanine Lewis, 33, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 11:20 a.m. Justin Blair Stovall, 50, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 11:55 a.m. Drew Dominique Johnson-Holland, 27, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

The untimely presence of a spider in the cab of his pickup truck caused a Putnam County man to have a one-vehicle accident, Greencastle City Police reported.

• At 7:14 p.m. Tuesday, David Mundy, 23, Greencastle, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado on County Road 275 East, near County Road 150 South, when he saw a spider falling from the roof of his vehicle and tried to get the insect out of the truck.

However, instead the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway and went into a ditch, striking and severing the guy wire of a utility pole.

Mundy was uninjured.

Total damage was estimated by Officer Luke Brown at less than $1,000.

On recent citation was issued by city officers.

• At 9:34 p.m. Monday, Brandi Crowe, 28, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Alec Pettit.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Crowe was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated five recent property-damage crashes.

• At 2:43 p.m. on Tuesday, Tamera A. Pogue, 59, Cory, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in Putnamville in a 2017 Nissan Versa.

As Pogue entered Putnamville, for an unknown reason her car went off the roadway and onto the sidewalk, where it hit a mailbox, destroying it.

The vehicle sustained heavy damage and had to be towed.

Pogue told Deputy Brian Helmer she did not why her vehicle had left the road.

Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, Christopher L. Hopwood, 22, Cloverdale, was crossing the westbound lane of U.S. 40 from County Road 300 East in a 2013 Dodge Charger. John Green, 51, Reelsville, was westbound in the left lane in a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500.

Hopwood told Lt. Donnie Pettit there was a large truck pulling a trailer turning north on 300 East and he could not see Green’s truck approaching.

As Hopwood pulled into the westbound lanes, Green hit the driver side door of his vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 10 a.m. on Friday, Joshua C. Scott, 24, Coatesville, was eastbound on County Road 100 North, just west of County Road 750 East, in a 2004 Chevrolet Impala.

Scott told Lt. Pettit that he veered right to avoid an oncoming vehicle that was left of center. In the process, he hit a mailbox.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.

• At 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, Jason D. Bell, 46, Poland, was southbound on State Road 243 just north of County Road 75 West when a deer ran into the driver’s side of his 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.

• At 10:58 a.m. on Monday, July 23, Savannah P. McIntosh, 18, Mooresville, was westbound on County Road 100 North 2013 Toyota station wagon when she lost control.

McIntosh told Deputy Josh Boller her right front tire got off the edge of the road and when she attempted to correct, she lost control of the car. The vehicle then swerved back toward the ditch, where it came to rest.

McIntosh suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.
