'Beauty and The Beast' set for Playhouse stage; Tuesday show added

The 2018 season of hits at Putnam County Playhouse continues with a production of Disney's "Beauty and The Beast."

The musical will be presented at 8 p.m. Aug. 9-11 and Aug. 14-18 at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre off Round Barn Road on Greencastle's East Side. A matinee is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 12 at 3 p.m.

The Tuesday, Aug. 14 show was added after the other eight performances were declared sell-outs Tuesday.

All tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling the box office at 653-5880. The box office is open Monday-Saturday from 5-7 p.m. Limited tickets are available, so reservations are recommended."Beauty and the Beast" is directed by Lee Reberger.

Pianist and pit conductor is Marilyn Rush. The orchestra includes Marcia Boswell, flute and piccolo; Drew Brattain, bass guitar; David Lorimer, clarinet, and Michael McClaine, percussion.

The show is sponsored by First National Bank.

Many families are involved in the show, including Ric McFadden (The Beast) and wife Shelly McFadden (Mrs. Potts), daughter Fawn McFadden is the assistant director. Granddaughters Becca George (ensemble) and Ally Taylor (spotlight operator) are also working on the production.

Meghan Armitage (Belle) is the daughter of percussionist McClaine. Brad Sandy (Prince/Monsieur Dark) and wife Lita Sandy (ensemble) are working with granddaughter Jocelyn Gardner who is playing Chip.

Lisa McCoy (Babette) joins daughter Hadley McCoy who is on the production staff. Ellen McCullough (Madame de la Grande Bouche) is onstage with daughters Clarissa, Ellissa, Hannahlore and Kaitlyn, members of the ensemble, while son Aengus runs a spotlight.

Amanda Henry and daughter Ellie Henry, members of the ensemble, were seen earlier this year in "Annie." Matt Schneider and wife Robin Scheider are also in the ensemble.

Others in leading roles include Dustin Bond (Lumiere), Jay Prewitt (Maurice), John Tischer (Gaston), Cameron Callan (LeFou) and Joshua Bain (Cogsworth).

The ensemble includes Alex Foster, Daniel Purnell and Devin Huff.

Also featured are Sarah Arnold, Alexandra Gandy and Paige Kaiser.

Set design and construction is by Linda Gjesvold. Production stage manager is Cameron Wunderlich who is assisted by Anna Harris. Also on the production staff are Craig Armitage, Noah Pettit, Darv'll Barger and Grace Elmore.

  • I heard they have added a Tuesday evening August 14th performance because all the tickets were sold out before opening night. Hopefully that is true and maybe I can get tickets now. I guess I had better call tonight and see if it is true.
