Tiger Cubs fall at THS

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute South defeated Greencastle 192-241 on Wednesday in girls’ high school golf.

Bailey Shuee led the Cubs with a 48. Other scores were Molly Ramey with a 61, Serena Patch with a 63 and Kadence Shaner and Jennifer Scott each with 69.

“Inexperience again was the main problem for the young Cubs,” GHS coach Steve Paquin said. “A new course that only Bailey and Molly have played proved that hitting shots to the proper distance and direction is extremely important in order to score.

“Bailey had a very good round going, but had two holes that kept her from shooting a really good score,” he added. “She had four consecutive pars, but had three holes where she struggled. Molly hit some good shots and putts, but couldn’t get the score she was wanting. Serena, Kadence, and Jennifer improved from Monday’s match keeping their scores in the 60s not the 70s.”

Paquin noted that a goal for his team is to consistently shoot scores in the 50s and also to get a team score below 220.

“Practice and working on all phases of the game should get us to that point,” he said. “Golf is a very difficult game to learn and takes beginners time to put all the important parts of the game together. I think that as the season progresses this team will achieve the goals that are being set for them.”

The Cubs will host North Montgomery on Monday.
