Putnam County SWCD to host Local Working Group Meeting

Monday, August 27, 2018

The Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation District on behalf of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resource Conservation Service will host a public Local Working Group Meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the USDA Service Center, located on 1007 Mill Pond Lane, Greencastle.

The purpose of the Local Working Group Meeting is to discuss and rank Putnam County’s top natural resource concerns. The results of the meeting will prepare the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for the fiscal year 2019 Farm Bill conservation programs implementation.

The Local Working Group sets the local priorities and provides recommendations to the district and state conservationist on local natural resource priorities and criteria for conservation activities and programs.

During the meeting, the local work group will discuss how well Indiana’s current technical information and programs address the local resource concerns.

A survey will be available for attendees to complete so the input from the meeting can be provided to the Indiana State Technical Committee.

The public is invited to join the SWCD to learn more about the role of the Local Work Group and to share your expertise of Putnam County’s agricultural and natural resource concerns.

If you have any questions please contact the SWCD office by calling 653-5716 x3 or email shane.johnson@in.nacdnet.net.
