County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

• At 11:20 p.m. Timothy Ray French, 47, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a Montgomery County warrant.

• At 6:01 p.m. Kandice Geree Shalayev, 33, Greencastle, was taken into custody for obstruction of a drug screen, possession of a device to obstruct a drug screen and violation of home detention.

• At 4:34 p.m. Gregory Ryan McHugh, 41, Coatesville, was housed at the jail on three Putnam County warrants.

• At 11:35 a.m. John Alfred Abney, 41, Ladoga, was booked in on a Putnam County warrant.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage accident.

• At 6:43 p.m. on Thursday, Monica K. Ponce, 37, Beech Grove, was westbound on County Road 200 South ,approaching U.S. 40 in a 2014 Honda Civic.

Ponce told Deputy Anthony Brown she saw a westbound vehicle approaching, preparing to turn right onto 200 South, but observed no other vehicles.

She proceeded into the intersection to turn left, but crossed into the path of Danielle I. Grounds, 27, Cloverdale, who was westbound in the passing lane in a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu.

Grounds told Brown she saw the other vehicle turning and then saw Ponce come into her path, but was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision, hitting the front of Ponce’s car with the right front of her own.

Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Neither driver required medical attention.

Brown estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one recent dispatch:

•At 3:39 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 210 S. Madison St. for a carbon monoxide alarm. Firefighters could not find any source for the CO2, and advised that the maintenance for the property replace the detector.

GFD left the scene at 4:28 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed three recent medical assists.
