• At 7:50 a.m. on Friday, Mary G. Parker, 17, Fillmore, was southbound on County Road 625 East approaching County Road 600 North in a 1990 Ford F250.

Parker told Deputy Matt Biggs a car pulled out as she crested a hill near the intersection. Parker swerved to avoid a collision and left the west side of the road, hitting a tree and coming to rest in a creek.

An Indiana State Trooper on the scene received information from a witness in the other car, who said they did not pull out in front of Parker’s vehicle. They said she was traveling too fast, drifted off the shoulder and appeared to overcorrect, resulting in the pickup turning sideways before hitting the tree on the passenger side front quarter panel. The trooper did not get witness information.

Biggs said marks at the scene indicated that the pickup appeared to leave the road at the crest of the hill as the road slightly veers to the left.

The driver and passenger were both transported from the scene by Operation Life. The passenger, also a minor, complained of head pain.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 12:25 a.m. on Friday, Steven R. Burnett, 33, Rockville, was westbound on U.S. 36 about a half-mile east of County Road 490 West in a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe when a deer ran into the road.
