Run for the Roses

Monday, September 17, 2018
With the 24th annual celebration just around the corner, Mayor Bill Dory (seat left) proclaims Friday, Sept. 21 as Friendship Day in Greencastle. Meanwhile, Eitel’s & Co. Florist owner Jenny Sullivan (seated right) looks on, already surrounded by several dozen roses. On Friday, residents will be able to pick up a dozen roses and give 11 out to friends, loved ones or someone new while keeping the last one for themselves. Roses will be available at 8 a.m. at Eitel’s & Co. Florist, Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce, Putnam Inn Family Restaurant and Catering and at 9 a.m. at First National Bank. As always, participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable items to be donated to the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry. Corporate sponsors in attendance for the proclamation are (standing from left) Brian Cox of the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce, Colleen Weatherford of Mill Pond Health Campus, Kristin Clary of Main Street Greencastle, Greg Cook of Ivy Tech Community College-Greencastle, Brooke Trissel of Putnam County Hospital and Rhonda Brotherton, Jane Hansen and Whitney Brotherton of Putnam Inn Family Restaurant and Catering. Additional corporate sponsors include First National Bank, Asbury Towers Retirement Community, Monical’s Pizza of Greencastle, Duke Energy, DePauw University and York Chevrolet Buick GMC Truck.
