Area 30 board approves grant, accepts donation

Tuesday, September 18, 2018

Conducting its regular business, the Area 30 Career Center Board of Directors approved two items on the agenda at its monthly meeting Thursday afternoon.

After hearing an in-depth presentation by Indiana Senator John Ruckelshaus on promoting workforce development, the board approved its teacher appreciation grant (TAG) policy for the 2018-19 school year. The policy governs how educators are rewarded for their impact in the classroom and the time they have worked.

The board also accepted the donation of a 2001 Chevrolet truck from Michael Tzouanakis. The truck will be used for vehicle maintenance instruction purposes as well as for staff use.

The board was also informed that all of Area 30’s buses passed a recent inspection by the Indiana State Police.

In the last order of business, the board also accepted the retirement of Marcia Murtagh as Area 30 academic integration instructor. Her last day will be on May 24.

In other news, the board was reminded that the sixth annual Scholarship Fund Golf Scramble will be played Saturday, Sept. 22 at Clover Meadows Golf Course in Cloverdale.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Oct. 9 at the Area 30 Career Center.
