More than 30 colleges are expected to be on hand Monday, Sept. 24 when the Putnam County Area College and Career Fair is conducted at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

The free, public event is scheduled from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Along with the college representatives, also expected to be in attendance are representatives from Area 30 Adult Education, ETA, the Indiana Laborers Union Training Fund, WorkOne, the 21st Century Scholar program, the U.S. Air Force and InvestED.

The college and career fair is being sponsored by the Putnam County Community Foundation, Endeavor Communications, First National Bank, Cloverdale Community Dollars for Scholars and North Putnam Dollars for Scholars.

Education comes in many forms, both traditional and non-traditional, and the event is an opportunity to talk with people from many areas, including training, finance and grant opportunities.

Vivian Whitaker, representative of Cloverdale Dollars for Scholars, said the event is not only for high school seniors.

“It is important for undergraduates to be thinking about their future plans before their last year of high school,” Whitaker said. “This is a chance for not only students, but parents also, to learn about many opportunities that exist in our community.”
