Window contest deadline moved to Oct. 19

Local groups and invidividuals who would like to make downtown Greencastle more festive for Halloween have an extra week to sign up for the Spook-tacular window eecorating contest.

Windows around the square will be decorated by kids of all ages, and winners will receive prize packages for spookiest creation, best hometown spirit and more.

The Greencastle Civic League is sponsoring the event, in partnership with the Greencastle Arts Council.

Individuals and groups need to secure a spot by Oct. 19, one week past the original deadline, by emailing greencastlecivicleagueinc@gmail.com.

Businesses will be paired with artists, and the decorating will take place Oct. 27-28. Awards will be presented at 5 p.m. on Halloween.

“Our downtown will be teeming with trick-or-treaters for Halloween and we think this is a fun way to infuse a little creativity and art into this silly and spooky holiday,” said Heather Wright, president of the Greencastle Civic League.

Committed businesses include Eli’s Bookstore, Scoops, Eric Wolfe Real Estate, Family Support Services, Remax, Horizon Business Center, Shuee’s, Abstract & Title, Banner Graphic, Don Julio’s, Senior Center, Bridges, Black Lumber, Myers Market, Jerry’s Wrecker Service, Ames Title, Wasser Brewing and the Putnam County Public Library.
