Gertrude 'Gerty' Bell

Gertrude "Gerty" Bell, 88, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at her home in Brazil with her family at her side.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1930 in Attica, Ind., to the late Ted and Olive (Quick) McCoy.

Gerty graduated from Brazil High School in 1949, and married Robert Bell on Oct. 14, 1950.

She worked as a secretary for the attorney Charlie Cochran, Kidd Insurance and the Eastside Elementary School.

Gerty and Robert are members of the First United Methodist Church of Brazil.

Gerty loved spending time with her family. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She liked reading and working at the library and in her rose garden.

Gerty was also preceded in death by her brother, Wayne McCoy; brother-in-law, George W. Bell; as well as her mother and father-in-law, George and Martha Bell.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Robert Bell, Brazil; daughters Nanette (Dale) Brown, Brazil, and Janette (Michael) Ledgerwood, Center Point; brother Larry (Marlene) McCoy, Harmony; sister Bonnie (Montie) Anderson, Noblesville; sister-in-law Gynelle (Richard) Stearley, Brazil; grandchildren Jaime Bailey, Jeremiah (Sarah) Ledgerwood, Ali Brown, Lucas Ledgerwood and Levi Ledgerwood; great-grandchildren Isabella Bailey, Audron Ledgerwood, Isaac Ledgerwood and Rilan Brown; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Rick Koch officiating and burial to follow at Union Cemetery.

The family will accept friends for visitation on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.. at the funeral home.
