The coaches: Tod Windlan is in his first year at Greencastle. David Carpenter is in his fourth year at Cascade.

Coming into the game: The game is the season opener for both teams.

History: Cascade won 49-41 at Greencastle last December, and has a 9-7 lead in the series over the past 15 years. The teams met in the 2016-17 Western Indiana Conference championship game.

Key players: Greencastle started junior Madison Rodgers and seniors Seelye Stoffregen and Jalyn Duff at guard in Saturday’s scrimmage with Monrovia, along with junior forward Allison Stevens and sophomore center Ella Shields.

The Cadets lost three senior starters who combined to average 37.4 points per game. Their leading returning scorer is junior Taylor Norris (5.4 ppg).

North Putnam (0-0) at North Vermillion (0-0)

The coaches: Jarrod Duff is in his third year at North Putnam. Mark Switzer is in his third year at North Vermillion.

History: North Putnam won 28-26 at Bainbridge last year. The Falcons have won nine of 12 meetings over the past 15 years.

Key players: Junior guard Hannah Sims led North Putnam in scoring last year with 7.5 points per game. Senior forward Payton Lyons added 5.0 points per game and junior guard Dana Tennis averaged 4.8.

Freshman McKenzie Crowder led the Falcons in scoring last year with 11.9 points per game. Senior Kahrie Balding added 6.7 points per game, while senior Cierra Cheuvront added 6.1 and junior Hannah Ellis added 6.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
