CLOVERDALE — Tori Combs topped 1,000 career points and led Cloverdale with a triple double as the Clovers dominated Riverton Parke Friday night, 81-28.

The senior had a monster game with 27 points on 12-of-20 shooting to go with 20 rebounds and 10 steals, all of which led the Clovers.

Combs also led her team with six assists.

Combs began the game 27 points away from the milestone and finished the night at 1,000 on the nose. The coach was proud of how her teammates helped her reach the goal.

“The team was really supportive of her, got her some looks in the fourth quarter when we knew it was getting there,” Langdon said.

The coach had even more to say about what Combs has meant to the program.

“I’m super proud of Tori and what she’s meant to this program, just a massive piece in turning this entire program around,” Langdon said. “I knew right off the bat as a freshman that she needed to be on varsity — such an athlete, such a hard worker. She’s probably going to get to 1,000 rebounds as well this year.”

Combs become just the third player in the history of the Cloverdale girls’ program to reach the 1,000-point plateau, joining Debbie (Mann) Steffy and Ann Hutcheson.”

Sammie Shrum was just behind Combs the scoring column Friday, with 26 points on 10-of-23 shooting.
