Thursday's girls' basketball preview

The coaches: Brian Gardner is in his fourth year at South Putnam. Curt Simic is in his first year at Edgewood.

Special note: This game was originally scheduled for Friday, but was moved up a day due to South Putnam hosting a regional football game.

So far: South Putnam lost its opener 65-44 to Cloverdale and beat Parke Heritage 56-54 on Tuesday. Edgewood beat West Vigo 45-31, lost 55-42 to Greencastle and lost 61-22 to Bloomington South on Tuesday.

History: South Putnam won 57-52 at home last year. Edgewood holds an 11-5 record over the past 15 years.

Key players: Sophomore Macie Bumgardner led South Putnam in scoring in its opener, and junior Lexi Vanihel led the Eagles on Tuesday. Edgewood is led in scoring by sophomore guard Taylor Minnick.
