A selection of the work completed over the last four years by ALEXIS VARVEL is on display in the Franklin College Senior Art Show, which runs through Tuesday, Nov. 27.

Both Varvel and fellow senior Raheim Whitlow spoke about their artwork during an opening reception this past week.

Alexis is the daughter of David and Miranda Varvel of Greencastle

The art will be on display in the Johnson Atrium of the Napolitan Student Center and can be viewed between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. The Art Show will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

NANTHANIEL SPANGLE of Greencastle is one of nine current DePauw University seniors among a record 90 college graduates who are being placed in two-year, full-time positions with 60 companies across central Indiana as a result of winning 2018 Governor Robert D. Orr Entrepreneurial Fellowships.

Orr Fellowship candidates are mostly from Midwest colleges and universities. Candidates are recruited and evaluated on academic excellence, extracurricular involvement and leadership qualities. The program is extremely selective: more than 1,200 top students applied in the most recent academic year, only six percent were named Orr Fellows.

This year, DePauw received more offers than any other school ever. DePauw has now produced 37 Orr Fellows over the past five years.

The Orr Fellowship was co-founded in 2001 by Angie Hicks, chief marketing officer and co-founder of Angie’s List, who is a 1995 graduate of DePauw.
