Washburn DAR hosts Indiana State Archives director at museum

The Washburn Chapter of the NSDAR invites the public to join the chapter for a meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the Putnam County Museum, 1105 N. Jackson St., Greencastle.

Guest speaker will be Vicki Casteel, director of Patron and Outreach Services of the Indiana State Archives and Records Administration. Casteel will present an introduction to the collections at the Archives, including how to access the records, both in person and online.

Casteel has been with the Archives for more than 21 years, and holds a Master's in archives and records administration. In addition to patron services she manages the databases for the Indiana Digital Archives.

Her special areas of research interest include social history, the Board of State Charities and Correction, Camp Morton Civil War Prison, the Dillinger gang and Native American land and court records.

The Indiana State Archives and Records Administration is the repository for all state and many county records dating back to the Territorial period.
