Misfits wrap up fall season with tourney win

The “Misfits” 16U fastpitch softball team, with several players from Putnam County, concluded its fall season by winning a tournament at Bicknell last month.

The championship game was tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when South Putnam’s Brionna Egold hit a walkoff triple to score fellow Eagle Gracie Nees from first base for a 2-1 victory.

South Putnam was also represented by Alex and Drew Steffy.

Egold and Alex Steffy split the pitching duties, with Egold throwing 229 pitches on the day and Steffy 177 as the Misfits won four out of five games.
