The fourth and final man charged in the April 2017 home invasion and burglary of a Madison Township residence will face a December jury trial in Putnam Circuit Court.

The trial date in the case against Daltyn J. Randolph, 21, Plainfield, was set months ago and reaffirmed on Tuesday when Judge Matthew Headley denied the defendant’s motion for a continuance.

The three-day trial, already delayed twice from August to September to December, is now set for Dec. 17-19.

Randolph faces nine felony counts in the case — Level 1 felony burglary with serious bodily injury, Level 2 felony burglary, Level 2 felony conspiracy to commit burglary, two counts of Level 3 felony armed robbery, Level 3 felony conspiracy to commit armed robbery, Level 3 felony criminal confinement, Level 6 felony theft and Level 6 felony auto theft.

Co-defendants Justin Cherry and Paul Reese were already found guilty of all nine counts, with each man sentenced to 72 years in prison.

Seeing his partners in crime handed such hefty sentences, Charles Maybaum entered guilty pleas to three felonies in the case in an August hearing — Level 2 felony burglary and two counts of Level 3 felony burglary.

Maybaum is due for sentencing in January, and is sure to face a shorter sentence.

During the April 2, 2017 incident, four masked men held Pat and Terry McCarter at gunpoint for close to an hour while they ransacked their home. The men made off with prescriptions, checks, jewelry, a rifle, a handgun, a purse, wallet and cash and even the McCarters’ Buick Rendezvous.

Additionally, one of the men struck Terry McCarter in the temple area with the butt of either a rifle or shotgun.

Many of the stolen goods, including the vehicle, were later recovered in Indianapolis.
