County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 1:55 a.m. Trisha Edna Stavedahl, 38, Warsaw, was booked in on a writ of body attachment and an out-of-county warrant.

• At 1:49 a.m. Gregory Justin Hazlett, 36, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 11:08 p.m. Larry Dale Harmon, 32, Russellville, was taken into custody on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 5:43 p.m. Brian Joseph Sheen, 49, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a parole hold and as a habitual traffic violator.

• At 1:09 a.m. Kyle Fisher, 25, Fillmore, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine, dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a handgun without a permit.

Monday

• At 11:29 p.m. Coty Dustin Cowles, 28, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for failure to appear.

• At 9:23 p.m. Chaise Xavier Kohl, 24, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a warrant for auto theft.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent property-damage crashes.

• At 5:05 a.m. on Wednesday, Serita K. Waggoner, 44, Fillmore, was northbound on County Road 575 East south of County Road 400 South in a 2005 Isuzu Ascender when she hit a deer.

Deputy Matt Biggs estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 7:09 p.m. on Monday, Destinee J. Call, 21, Greencastle, was westbound on West Walnut in a 2016 Nissan Verano when she hit a dog.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $2,500-5,000.

• At 6:09 p.m. on Monday, Noah M. Carson, 27, Greencastle, was westbound on Rangeline Road approaching a 90-degree turn in a 2001 GMC Safari. Bradley J. Funk, 31, Indianapolis, was traveling in the opposite direction in a 2017 Ford Focus.

Deputy Freeman reported that Carson’s van traveled left of center and hit the driver’s side door of Funk’s car.

Carson’s vehicle sustained light front-end damage. Funk’s car sustained moderate left side damage and all airbags deployed. Funk’s car was towed.

Carson told Freeman he did not have auto insurance and a citation was issued.

Freeman estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 6:40 a.m. on Saturday, Sean J. Schultz, 20, Greencastle, in a 2011 Dodge Charger when he hit a deer.

The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage but Schultz was able to drive it to a friend’s home nearby.

He did not contact dispatch until late that afternoon.

Reserve Deputy Rick Lambert estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four recent dispatches:

•At 3:59 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 446 E. Anderson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:04 p.m. and found that a smoke detector head was being replaced and had gone off accidentally. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 4:14 p.m.

•At 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 508 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:28 and determined that the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 4:34 p.m.

•At 6:01 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 1 Taylor Place for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:04 and determined that the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 6:14 p.m.

•At 6:17 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 208 E. Olive St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:19 and determined that the alarm was due to burnt popcorn. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 6:25 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed two medical assists and had one disregard before these dispatches.
