Warren S. 'Steve' Hendershot

Warren Stephen (Steve) Hendershot, 75, of Brownstown, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018 surrounded by his family.

He was born April 16, 1943 in Columbus, Ind. (Bartholomew County), to Roscoe and Bessie (Stephens) Hendershot.

A graduate of Columbus High School, he attended Vincennes University.

He married the former Janet R. Earnshaw on Oct. 13, 1962, and married the former Judy Kay Baxter on Sept. 29, 2018.

Steve was involved with the newspaper industry for 41 years, with 23 of those at the Banner Graphic in Greencastle. He retired in 2008.

He was a member of Sherwood Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Kay Hendershot; two sons, Greg (Darcy) Hendershot, Greencastle, Todd (Amy) Hendershot, Louisville, Ky.; a daughter, Crystal (Tim) Manion, Greencastle; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Austin, Abigail, Bailey, Regan and Gus; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Wood, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janet and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Sherwood Christian Church, 600 Kirkwood Drive, Greencastle, with Rev. Jim Staggers officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery Pinelawn Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.
