Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of Monday crashes.

• At 7 p.m. Roman N. Sital, 29, Danville, was westbound on County Road 500 North approaching County Road 325 West in a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze when he hit a deer.

Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 11:45 a.m. Robert I. Moran, 51, Coatesville, was eastbound on County Road 600 North just east of County Road 725 East in a 2008 Kenworth construction truck. Ryan F. Petty, 31, Greencastle, was westbound in a 2014 Jeep Compass.

Moran told Deputy Matt Biggs that as he approached the top of a hill, he observed Petty’s vehicle left of center.

Moran swerved left to avoid the collision, leaving left visible marks in the soil. However, the two vehicles collided head on.

Petty told Biggs he looked down away from the road and when he looked up, he was left of center and it was too late to avoid the collision.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front end damage and were towed.

No injuries were reported.

Petty was cited for driving without proof of financial responsibility and driving with a suspended license.

Biggs estimated damage at $50,000-$100,000.
