City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Jared G. Hagen, 32, Greencastle, was arrested at the Greencastle McDonald’s on Indianapolis Road by Capt. Charles Inman.

Hagen was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

He registered a .165 percent blood-alcohol content under portable breathalyzer testing, police said, and was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 4:50 a.m. on Sunday, Vincent E. Myers, 24, Lewis, was eastbound on Interstate 70, approaching the State Road 243 exit in a 2012 Nissan Juke.

As he prepared to exit, Myers’ vehicle hit slush marks in the road and he lost control, sliding sideways so that the vehicle was pointing north across the road.

Myers told Deputy Robert Soilleux that at this time, the driver’s side front of his vehicle was hit by a newer looking semi tractor-trailer. He said the impact sent his vehicle spinning backward into the ditch.

However, the semi did not stop.

Myers complained of wrist and whole body pain and was treated at the scene by medics.

Soilleux said a search of the area was conducted, but no sign of the damaged truck was found.

The Nissan was towed. Damage was estimated at $25,000-$50,000.

• At 6:25 p.m. Whitney T. Parker, 22, Greencastle, was apparently northeast-bound on Houck Road when her 2016 Jeep Commander left the roadway.

Upon the arrival of Deputy Soilleux, Parker said she didn’t know what happened but she was not going too fast.

Soilleux said marks in the snow show that Parker did not make a left-hand curve, instead leaving the road and hitting a guardrail. She then sideswiped the guardrail all the way from the south end of the bridge to the other end.

The vehicle came to stop upon hitting a sign. This resulted in damage to the front, rear and passenger side of the vehicle.

Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000. He was assisted at the scene by Reserve Deputy Joshua Clark.

• At 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, Mary J. Litz, 56, Cloverdale, was eastbound on State Road 42 in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado when she lost control on the snow-covered road.

The truck crossed the westbound lane, left the roadway and hit the ditch, flipping onto its side.

Litz was not injured.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Matt Biggs estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.
