Brazil man suffers minor injuries in rollover
An 83-year-old Brazil man suffered only minor injuries when he lost control on black ice and rolled his truck Tuesday morning.
At 9:51 a.m., Wilbur L. Warner was westbound, having just crossed the Big Walnut Creek bridge when he lost control of his 2008 Chevrolet Colorado.
The vehicle ran off the north side of the road and went down an embankment, where it struck some fencing and the truck rolled over and came to rest on its top.
Fortunately, Warner’s injuries were only minor. Operation Life transported him to Putnam County Hospital.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department reported that freezing rain at the time briefly caused some serious road conditions, with a very thin layer of ice in a number of locations.
“Emergency crews were having trouble at the scene with the black ice on the ground,” Deputy Scott Ducker reported. “The county highway was called in to salt the area.”
Ducker added that Manhattan Road just south of Limedale was also treacherous at the time.
The crash was investigated by deputies Ducker and Brian Helmer. Also responding to the scene were the Greencastle Fire Department and Jerry’s Wrecker Service.
