Tiny towns and vanished villages will be the topic of the evening Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Museum, 1105 N. Jackson St., Greencastle. Putnam County Historian Larry Tippin will give the first presentation of a series devoted to our lost burgs and uninhabited hamlets. The talk will encompass places in each tier of our townships, north, central and south.

Tippin will speak about the research needed to establish where some places stood, what happened there and who lived, worked and traded there.

Towns to be covered in January include Horntown, Capentersville and Vivalia.

The next date in the series will be Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. and some of the towns covered then will include Nicholsonville, Vettersville and Swankville.

The date for the series in March is the 28th. Those towns will be announced at the February presentation.
