Endeavor to stop offering traditional cable television

Thursday, January 31, 2019

CLOVERDALE — With traditional television changing rapidly, Endeavor Communications on Thursday announced a major change to the services it offers.

Responding to what it calls a “new wave of innovation,” Endeavor will no longer offer traditional cable television to new customers.

“Influenced by current trends, Endeavor Communications will be ending its offering of traditional ‘cable TV-style’ media on Feb. 1, 2019,” CEO Darin LaCoursiere said. “We will continue to provide full service to those members who currently have our television service.”

The statement from the company expounded upon the reason for the change.

“The traditional model of forcing customers to take packages containing hundreds of channels — many of which they never view — is becoming too expensive for our customers and for Endeavor,” the statement read. “As programming costs continue to rise Endeavor is forced to pass on increased contract costs.”

Instead, Endeavor is choosing to help customers learn about options for streaming television.

“Streaming TV can be a cost-effective option, and we would rather help our customers learn how to choose what they would like to watch,” stated LaCoursiere.

Company representatives instead wish to promote the positive features they see in streaming, such as convenience, content, devices, area and variety.

For any customers needing help learning the ins and outs of streaming, Endeavor will host an event from 4-6 p.m. on March 14. Speed Geeks will be on hand to help members learn how to stream content.

“Creating your own lineup of programming is a future that we all can look forward to enjoying,” LaCoursiere said. “Endeavor wants you to have unlimited TV options — pick your programs, pick your place, pick your device and choose Endeavor Internet to help you run it all.”

Lookout-in response to your question we have approximately 3000 members with TV service. Those members are not being asked to disconnect service. We will just not be offering this as a service in the future to new customers.
