Winter Weather Advisory replaces Wind Chill Warning for Putnam County

Thursday, January 31, 2019

While the Wind Chill Warning that was in effect since 10 p.m. Tuesday has been canceled, a new Winter Weather Advisory has been issued that will continue through Friday morning.

The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. Friday as snowfall is expected to impact portions of central Indiana, including Putnam County, the National Weather Service says.

Besides Putnam, other counties affected include Parke, Hendricks, Marion, Hancock, Morgan, Johnson, Shelby, Rush and Decatur. The area includes the cities of Greencastle, Rockville, Plainfield, Brownsburg, Danville, Indianapolis, Greenfield, Martinsville, Mooresville, Greenwood, Franklin, Shelbyville, Rushville and Greensburg.

Snow is expected overnight with total accumulations of 2 to 4 inches possible over central and west-central Indiana.

The main impact, the National Weather Service says, will be slick and snow-covered untreated roads with lowered visibility in heavier snow.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow-covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
