Learn compassionate touch via massage Feb. 20 at library

Thursday, January 31, 2019

Touch is our common language. Through holding, comforting, stroking — one can heal or reassure, relieve pain or soothe away tension. Above all, touch conveys the fact that we care and tells us we are not alone.

Especially during times of transition — loss, divorce, illness, aging, moving, retiring or other life-changing circumstances — learning to be fully present through touch can sometimes be the best medicine.

In a session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Putnam County Public Library, 103 E. Poplar St., Greencastle, licensed massage therapist Cathie Malach will share some of what she’s learned about lending a healing hand both to ourselves and loved ones — through discussion and experiential exercises.

Malach has practiced massage therapy for more than 30 years, supporting her clients in creating a lifestyle of self-care. She’s also worked extensively with the elderly, terminally ill and those dealing with chronic pain, emotional trauma or stress.

Malach recently relocated to Greencastle where she maintains a private practice and also continues her work as pianist and composer.
