County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 1:39 a.m. Stefanie Marie Wells, 33, Jasonville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Sunday

• At 9:33 p.m. Donte Emmanuel Lonberger, 35, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 6:51 p.m. Joseph Dewey Mosley III, 27, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 3:20 p.m. Dalton Cole Warren Grant, 24, Indianapolis, was booked in for illegal possession of a firearm and reckless driving.

• At 1:20 a.m. Jocelyn Chaice Kinnick, 34, Spencer, was lodged at the jail for unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction.

• At 12:52 a.m. Tiffany Dawn Carpenter, 38, Spencer, was taken into custody for unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 3:57 a.m. Saturday, Jason Lee Jones, 39, Greencastle, was arrested on Elizabeth Street by Officer Luke Brown.

Jones was lodged at the Putnam County Jail for invasion of privacy.

• At 8:13 p.m. Friday, Tyra Shaqueen Binder, 21, Greencastle, was arrested on Frazier Street by Officer Luke Brown.

Binder was booked into the jail for battery, battery against a public safety official, criminal mischief, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Two recent citations were issued by Greencastle City Police offers.

• At 10:46 a.m. Monday, Michelle Coe, 29, was cited by Capt. Chris Jones.

Stopped near Avenue F and Percy Julian Drive, Coe was cited for operating with a license suspended with a prior offense.

• At 8:38 a.m. Monday, Jean Coy, 49, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Brad Hiatt.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Coy was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent crashes.

• At 7:26 p.m. on Sunday, Payton A. Nichols, 34, Coatesville, was westbound on State Road 240 near County Road 525 East when he lost control of the 2003 Volkswagen Jetta he was driving.

The vehicle left the north side of the road, hitting a road sign and coming to rest about 30 feet into a field.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 6 p.m. on Saturday, Solomon O. Winters, 28, Indianapolis, was southbound on County Road 850 West in a 1994 Ford Econoline. Charles W. Spencer, 61, Russellville, was northbound in a 2008 Nissan Titan.

As the two vehicles met, their mirrors made contact, damaging both.

Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at less than $1,000.

• At 6:17 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, Kyle F. Brown, 31, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2011 Ford F-150 when he hit a patch of black ice.

The loss of control sent Brown’s vehicle into the southbound lane, where it was struck by a southbound 2012 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Neal R. Watson, 49, Greencastle. This caused Brown’s truck to slide into the guardrail on the west side of the road before coming to rest.

Watson told Deputy Anthony Brown he saw the vehicle spinning out of control into his lane but could not avoid the collision.

Both Watson and his passenger, Nikki Watson of Greencastle, were transported from the scene with possible leg and hand injuries.

Brown estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• Around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, three different drivers were southbound on U.S. 231, approaching State Road 236, when they all hit a cow that was in the roadway.

The drivers were:

Lewis E. Grossest, 45, Rockville, driving a 2015 Honda Accord; Brandon E. Rayburn, 39, Monon, driving a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta; and Jason R. Hoffarth, 39, Greencastle, driving a 1997 Ford F-350.

The trailer that Hoffarth was pulling ran completely over the top of the cow.

All of the vehicles were driven from the scene. However, Deputy Scott Ducker estimated total damage at $10,000-$25,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two recent dispatches:

• At 9:13 a.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 415 S. Anderson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:16 and found the alarm was due to a dirty detector head. The detector was cleaned and the alarm was then reset. GFD left at 9:28 a.m.

• At 3:31 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 208 E. Olive St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:35 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 3:46 p.m.
