Monday, February 25, 2019

Apparel and home décor retailer Gordmans will debut a new department store in Greencastle Thursday, March 7 with a grand-opening celebration, beginning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m.

Gordmans, a division of Stage Stores, will be located at 27 Putnam Plaza on the city’s East Side. Store hours will be 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The new Greencastle store is part of a Gordmans grand-opening tour celebration, which includes 38 new Gordmans stores opening this March across the country. In addition, the 67 current Gordmans stores are joining in to celebrate the company’s growth.

Community members are invited to the Greencastle Gordmans ribbon-cutting ceremony, joining representatives from the City of Greencastle, before stepping inside the new store to discover name-brand apparel, home décor and more.

Additionally that morning, as part of Gordmans’ commitment to Greencastle, the retailer will donate $1,000 to Greencastle High School.

Other grand-opening activities include:

• Free Gift Plus Shopping Cards: The first 100 guests in line at the grand opening will receive a free gift and an opportunity to win a $50 or $5 shopping card.

• Rewards: Gordmans guests will enjoy Style Circle Rewards, which offers payback rewards, double-double points, a birthday gift and more.

• Credit Card Savings: Gordmans’ guests who apply and are approved for a Gordmans credit card will receive 20 percent off their first day’s purchases.

“Gordmans is excited to join the Greencastle community,” Michael Glazer, president and CEO of Stage Stores, said.

“We are committed to bringing our guests bigger deals and smaller prices — and with fresh new deliveries arriving weekly, there will always be something new to discover,” Glazer added.

Stage Stores Inc. is a leading retailer of name-brand values for apparel, accessories, cosmetics, footwear and home goods. At the end of March 2019, the company will operate in 42 states through 690 Bealls, Goody’s, Palais Royal, Peebles and Stage specialty department stores and 105 Gordmans’ off-price stores, as well as an e-commerce website at www.stage.com.

I just hope that it goes well. Too many indicators point to a short-lived existence.

They do have some interesting stuff and look forward to popping in there for a browse.
