Normally a Thursday-night event at The Fluttering Duck inside The Inn at DePauw, Jazz at the Duck is set for a special Tuesday-night concert on March 5.

Saxophonist Sean Imboden, an Indianapolis native, will play a 9 p.m. show, leading a trio that features Kevin Johnson on drums and Steve Snyder on organ.

Imboden grew up in a musical family and began piano lessons at an early age. Following in the footsteps of his father, Imboden started clarinet in grade school and added saxophone in high school. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University and a Master of Music degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.

Immediately following school, Imboden went on the road and toured internationally for several years with various Broadway productions including “Hairspray,” “A Chorus Line” and “Young Frankenstein.”

He has performed on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and with the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Barry Manilow, Johnny Mathis, Idina Menzel and Slide Hampton. As a featured soloist for “Blast II,” he toured Japan twice.

Now leading his own various ensembles, Imboden engages audiences with fresh improvisation and compositions. Along with a diverse schedule of performance and recording, he loves teaching his students at Butler University, as well as many middle and high school students in the Indianapolis area.

The concert is free and open to the public. The Inn at DePauw is located at 2 W. Seminary St., Greencastle.

Normally on Thursdays from 8:30-10:30 p.m., the series brings jazz to The Fluttering Duck most weeks that DePauw University is in session.
