City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 9:15 a.m. Friday, Mary Walker, 35, Terre Haute, was arrested by Officer Nick Eastham.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Walker was taken into custody on a Putnam County warrant for theft following a traffic stop on Bloomington Street.

• At 1:21 p.m. Thursday, Derick Pemberton, 23, Greencastle, was arrested by Det. Matt Huffman.

Pemberton, who was taken into custody on a Putnam County warrant for child molesting, was arrested at an Avenue E residence.

Meanwhile, a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon at South Jackson and Hanna streets resulted in minor injuries to one driver.

The accident occurred at 1:05 p.m. as Leia Hudgins, 21, Newburgh, was eastbound from the Blackstock Stadium area, crossing Jackson Street in a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, when she pulled her SUV into the path of a 2000 International semi driven by Naaman Brubaker, 34, Rossville.

Officer Darrel Bunten’s report indicated Hudgins ran the stopsign, entering the path of the northbound semi, which reportedly pushed the SUV several feet down Jackson Street.

Hudgins said she did not see the semi approaching as she attempted to cross Jackson Street to continue east on Hanna.

Hudgins was transported to Putnam County Hospital with head and right knee pain.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $10,000-$25,000.
