County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 12:31 p.m. Michael Allen Kessler, 71, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

Friday

• At 9:42 a.m. Mary E. Walker, 34, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail on local warrant for theft.

• At 3:27 a.m. Ty Allan Mourey, 23, Greenwood, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Thursday

• At 6:48 p.m. Kelly Terese Mercer, 48, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a court order.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated seven recent property-damage accidents.

• At 9:31 p.m. on Sunday, Kayleigh M. Duel, 25, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze when she hit a deer.

Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000. The car was towed.

• At 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Bridget A. O’Reilly, 19, St. Charles, Mo., was westbound on State Road 240 in a 2015 Ford Escape when it began to rain heavily.

O’Reilly told Deputy Soilleux she tried to pull off 240 and onto a county road when she drove into a ditch and became stuck in the front yard of 1853 S. CR 700 East.

She then attempted to drive across the yard and back onto the roadway but got stuck in the mud, leaving ruts in the yard.

Soilleux estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500. The vehicle was towed.

• At 10:56 a.m. on Saturday, Lucia J. Wilson, 24, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 400 West just north of U.S. 40 in a 2016 Honda HRV when she left the roadway.

Wilson told Deputy Josh Boller that she must have looked down to get her drink and left road, causing front-end damage when she hit the ditch.

The vehicle was towed. Boller estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 9:38 p.m. on Friday, Cody L. Duclos, 19, Quincy, was westbound on State Road 42 just west of County Road 675 East in a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado when he hit a deer.

Deputy Randy Patrick estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 7:52 a.m. on Friday, Shelley D. Patterson, 51, Terre Haute, was eastbound on County Road 550 South, approaching a 90-degree corner in a 2003 Honda Pilot when she lost control due to ice on the roadway.

The vehicle left the road and hit a fence, then a tree.

Deputy Boller estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000. The vehicle was towed.

• At 5:50 a.m. on Friday, David S. Jones, 51, Brownsburg, was eastbound on County Road 1100 South about three quarters of a mile east of County Road 500 West in a 2005 Nissan Frontier.

Jones lost control at a bend in the road due to ice. The vehicle left the southeast side of the road and hit a power pole. No injuries were reported.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Matt Biggs estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

Jones was cited for driving without financial responsibility.

• At 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Stacy A. Woodruff, 36, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 125 South, just east of County Road 175 West, in a 2007 Chrysler Newport van.

Woodruff told Lt. Donnie Pettit she swerved to miss an animal in the road and left the north side of the road, hitting a county highway sign before entering a ditch.

The vehicle was towed. Pettit estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.
