Cooper, traveling with the right of way, was unable to avoid a collision.

Cooper declined medical treatment at the scene. However, a passenger in his car later went to Putnam County Hospital with pain and bruising, police said.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent property-damage accidents.

• At 6:41 a.m. on Wednesday, Raymond Bond, 61, Indianapolis, had been westbound on Interstate 70 in a 2018 Freightliner semi registered to Rider Truck Rental and pulling a trailer when he pulled off onto the ramp at Exit 41.

Bond told Deputy Tanner Brown that he had been following too closely to another semi in front of him, so that when before he pulled off to stop on the shoulder, he did not notice another tractor-trailer parked there. In pulling off, his tractor collided with the left rear of the trailer of the other semi.

The occupants of the other vehicle, a 2017 Freightliner registered to Gypsum Express, said they were sleeping when the incident took place.

The occupants had minor injuries, but declined treatment.

The vehicle Bond had been driving was towed. Brown estimated damage at $25,000-$50,000.

• At 7:56 p.m. on Monday, Ethan C. Ames, 29, Coatesville, was westbound on County Road 500 North in the area of 400 East in a 2016 GMC Sierra when he ran off the road.

Ames told Deputy Anthony Brown he was “messing with the radio” when he looked up and ran off the south side of the road.

Suffering facial injuries in the crash, Ames was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.

Ames told Deputy Brown he had a couple of drinks at his buddy’s house before the crash. Blood test results are pending.

The vehicle was towed. Brown estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.
