Jackie L. 'Jack' Steele

Jackie "Jack" L. Steele, 86, of Ladoga, passed away at Franciscan Health Hospital in Crawfordsville, on Saturday, March 23, 2019 just 15 hours after his beloved daughter-in-law, Marie Steele, passed.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1932 in Colfax, Ind., to the late William Earnest and Mary Evelyn (Maiden) Steele.

On Aug. 10, 1957 he married Darlene (Auman) Steele in Linden, Ind.

Jack was a veteran, serving in the United States Air Force.

He began working for Kenny Vice Ford in sales for 15 years. Jack then worked many years for TDS until retiring in 2002.

He was a member of Ladoga Baptist Church.

His hobbies include junking, woodworking, a big helper to many, building houses, working with his hands, taking and mentoring many kids on his golf cart.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Darlene Steele of Ladoga; children Marilyn Webb, Warsaw, Donald Steele, Ladoga, Jackie Steele, Ladoga, and Donna (Mike) Davis, Ladoga; grandchildren Jeff, Jon and Jason Hollan, Shane, Kyle and Tyler (Katie) Davis and Tanikka Sparks; 11 great-grandchildren, Maggie Hollan, Carson Hollan, Karson and Levi Davis; and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Nancy Steele, Colfax.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James (Jean) Steele and Robert Steele; and sister Mag (Max) Harshbarger.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 at Ladoga Baptist Church, 751 N. Cherry St., Ladoga, with Pastor Tyler Davis officiating.

Friends may visit with the family at the church from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the day of the service. Burial will follow at Stoner Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be given to his great-grandsons, Karson and Levi, for their education.
