White helps Tigers go 5-1 in Florida; DePauw set to meet No. 1 Wooster

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — DePauw moved to 12-6 on the season and extended its win streak to five following a 5-1 win over Thomas (Maine) on Wednesday in the Tigers’ final game in Florida.

The Terriers dropped to 1-12.

The Tigers scored four times in the sixth as North Putnam graduate Brayden White and Charlie Patrick reached by being hit by a pitch before an error on T.J. Carney-DeBord’s fly ball with two outs allowed White to score. Spencer Youngcourt followed with a two-run single before Nick Nelson singled home Youngcourt.

C.J. Yoannou’s single in the seventh scored Patrick and gave the Tigers a 5-0 lead.

Sam Kaske started and pitched five inning of two-hit, scoreless ball to improve to 1-0. Dean Jackman took the loss and dropped to 0-2.

DePauw hosts No. 1-ranked Wooster in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener on Sunday in an 11:30 a.m. doubleheader at Grand Park in Westfield.
